Gyach is a Yahoo! Chat client that uses GTK+ technology for its interface.
Gyach also supports sending and receiving private messages, with the added benefit of multiple PM windows. This makes it easy to chat with multiple people at the same time. The room list window is an added bonus, allowing you to easily join a chat room with just a click.
Other helpful features include a local ignore list with unlimited size, which can be configured to auto-ignore based on criteria such as regular expressions or multiple posts of the same text. The software also offers a local mute (ignore for 1 session) list and the ability to view chatter profiles via a built-in profile viewer or web browser.
In terms of status changes, Gyach offers auto-away (with setable time) and custom away messages, as well as standard Yahoo! statuses including invisible. Colors can be displayed for remote users, with the option to blend them with an override option provided. Users can even select their own color to send text in.
Additional options include a command-line scrollback buffer, configurable size of chat text window, and the ability to add/remove Yahoo! pager friends. Users can enable display of graphical smileys/emoticons, force lowercase of all chat text, and auto-login (with default login/password) if desired.
Gyach also allows for filtering outgoing text through an external program, such as ispell or jive. Other features include disabling display of remote user's fonts/colors, showing user's statuses changes, enter/leave room messages, remembering the main window size and position, and setting an auto-reply message for when receiving PM while away. Users can even limit the number of linefeeds in a particular message by changing to '|' if it exceeds a limit, preventing the screen from scrolling wildly.
Overall, I highly recommend Gyach for anyone looking for a feature-rich Yahoo! Chat client with a user-friendly interface.
