This software can convert JPG or TIFF images into optimized images of high quality within three formats.
The software supports three formats for image conversion: HDTV Full-Size, HDTV letterboxed original-aspect-ratio, and non-letterboxed original-aspect-ratio modes. The Full-Size mode is ideal for portrait size images, panoramic images with an aspect ratio greater than 16:9, and images too small to be converted into the HDTV format without up-scaling. The letterboxed and non-letterboxed original-aspect-ratio modes are best for images intended to be shown on digital photo frames.
The HDTV Converter also creates a new DCF compliant preview thumb and inserts it into each converted image. The software supports two thumb formats: the standard 4:3 aspect ratio and the 16:9 aspect ratio.
The software is especially useful for images created by high-quality digital cameras such as DSLRs, which contain many more pixels than can be displayed on an HDTV or digital photo frame. The HDTV Converter can convert these camera images into the more efficient 16:9 aspect ratio 1820x1080 pixel HDTV format, reducing their size while retaining their quality. The conversion can be done one image at a time or in batch mode with up to 400 images per batch.
However, users of PPC-based Macintosh computers or with system 10.4.x or earlier should not use Version 1.2.2 of the software.
Overall, the HDTV Converter is an easy-to-use and efficient software solution for converting images into a DCF compliant format for display on HDTVs and digital photo frames.
