This software allows users to easily access and modify hexadecimal HTML color codes through the Mac OS X color panel.
It's surprising that, even today, this code cannot be found directly within the Mac OS X color panel. Previously, users would have to launch Photoshop for the sole purpose of obtaining a six digit number, or work with Calculator's hexadecimal mode, TextEdit, and plenty of patience.
However, Hex Color Picker offers the perfect solution. It adds an extra tab in the system-wide color panel, allowing users to easily see the hex color code for any color and edit it using a range of shorthand notations.
To enter the hex color code quicker, the software includes shorthands that automatically deduct the full six digit string from 1, 2, or 3 digits alone. It also uses HTML/CSS color keywords, such as hotpink, orange, or chartreuse, and displays a live preview of the color.
Users are able to personalize the software based on their own preferences; they can choose between lowercase or uppercase.
Installation is a breeze. Simply copy or move the HexColorPicker.colorPicker file to [Your home folder] -> Library -> ColorPickers. If the ColorPickers folder doesn't exist, users can create it.
Overall, Hex Color Picker is an essential tool for web designers and programmers who need to specify colors. It eliminates the need for time-consuming workarounds, and makes obtaining the hex color code a quick and simple process.
