Hotssh is a component of the Hotwire Shell interface that facilitates secure remote access and password-less login to remote servers.
Thanks to the encryption employed by SSH, data transmitted over insecure networks like the internet remains confidential and its integrity is assured. The protocol relies on public-key cryptography to authenticate the remote computer and allow the remote computer to authenticate users, if required. In addition to its utility for remote execution of commands, SSH supports functionality like forwarding arbitrary TCP ports, tunneling, X11 connections and facilitating file transfers using SCP or SFTP protocols.
SSH is designed on a client-server protocol model. An SSH server is the side that hosts the service and is typically set to listen on the standard TCP port 22 by default. Meanwhile, the SSH client program facilitates connections to an SSH daemon that accepts remote connections. SSH clients and servers are commonly found on most modern operating systems, including MacOS, Linux, Solaris, and FreeBSD, and come in proprietary, freeware, and open source variants of various levels of complexity and completeness. If you're looking to secure your data exchange, SSH is an ideal protocol to use.
