Calculator for lawn sprinkler system designers available as both Palm OS and Windows desktop versions, designed to be user-friendly.
HydroCalc calculates various things like maximum system flow, water velocity through different pipe sizes, dynamic pressure based on several factors, zone or system precipitation rate based on up to three methods, and evaporation and transpiration rate based on humidity and temperature. It even considers soil type, percent of slope, and whether the ground is bare or planted. With all this information, HydroCalc creates a suggested watering schedule that includes the number of waterings per week and how many minutes to water for.
Additionally, you can enter information from your local water bill, system flow rate, and run time, and the program will calculate the cost to run the system per week, month, and year. You can even generate reports from your project using the Windows version, and these reports can be easily edited or printed with any word processor.
If you have the Palm version, you can print the data you generate using an IR-capable printer or serial cable and PalmPrint or SCSPrint software (trial version is included). Plus, HydroCalc includes context-sensitive online help so you can get answers to any questions you have while you design sprinkler systems.
This software saves you time by eliminating the need to consult books and tables and do calculations yourself. You can download the fully functional demo version of the Palm version for free and try it out for 10 days. The interactive on-screen tutorial will instruct and demonstrate every aspect of the program, so you can hit the ground running.
