This software generates /etc/services and /etc/protocols from IANA data.
The installation process is easy and user-friendly and supports unattended installations. The software does not use Autoconf, but the installation process is simple enough. The basic installation process is as follows:
```
make
su
make install
```
This process creates the necessary files locally without accessing the internet. If you wish to install in another location, you can use the following command:
```
make PREFIX=/mnt/tmp install
```
This command will create /mnt/tmp/etc/services and /mnt/tmp/etc/protocols. For non-standard installations, the following command should be used:
```
make PREFIX=/foo ETC_DIR=bar install
```
This command will create /foo/bar/services and /foo/bar/protocols.
This release includes support for protocol-specific port aliases and fixes to the handling of port ranges. The software has also been updated to match changes in the data from the IANA, and the latest data from the IANA is included in this release. Upgrading to this release is strongly encouraged.
