Traditional battery or APM monitors provide inaccurate results as they rely on the "intelligent" batteries and BIOS to generate the information that is then shared with all applications. This is a significant issue since the battery life estimates are not always reliable, and the BIOS hour is only about 20 minutes in actual time.
IBAM resolves this problem by creating a unique battery and charge profile for your laptop, from which it can compute the precise time remaining. The software creates a graphical visualization of the battery cycle and charge cycle to provide a better understanding of the profile.
The red graph denotes the battery cycle where the laptop operates on battery, the x-axis indicates the BIOS minutes, and the y-axis displays the actual average length of each minute in seconds. The graph clearly shows that the BIOS minute is roughly 50 seconds long from 200 minutes to 60 minutes, and only 10 seconds long from 40 minutes to 20 minutes.
The green graph represents the charge cycle, which is useful in predicting the time needed for a full charge. Once you have created an initial profile for your laptop, you can generate these graphs yourself by using the "--plot" option.
