ICMP-Chat is a basic chat application that relies on ICMP packets for messaging, which operates through the command line interface.
Upon installation, users can execute the ICMP-Chat feature by typing "make && make install". For those operating on a Solaris platform, execute "make solaris && make install".
To initiate usage, enter "icmpchat [OPTIONS]< host >< nick >". In this instance, the host is the target individual or group you want to chat with, and nick pertains to your selected nickname. Users have the option to specify ICMP type using the -t option, which should be the default ECHO_REPLY.
ICMP codes operate under various designations, such as Echo Reply, Redirect, Echo Request, Router solicitation, and many others.
This release of ICMP-Chat brings about several new implementations, which include a rewrite of the feature using optimized Rijndael algorithm and password casting through SHA256. It also accommodates an updated ncurses frontend and enhanced getuid flag, thanks to John's feedback. Overall, ICMP-Chat is an easy-to-use communication tool for seamless exchange with advanced data encryption.
