If_Rate is a tool that provides statistics and prints data on network interface traffic rates. It is similar to the functionality of Iptraf.
If_Rate is a user-friendly program that is entirely free of charge, although it comes without a warranty. However, we hope you find this software beneficial, and it is used only for legal activities. The program is not without its bugs, including some interface drivers that have issues updating the counter. Nevertheless, this is not the program's fault, but rather an issue with the drivers themselves.
Other bugs include some interfaces that have time counters updated at more than one second internal, making it necessary to set an interval larger than this interval to get precise averages. For example, If_Rate can be invoked as "./if_rate 10."
This recent update comes with significant improvements to the program, including accurate rate information measurement using gettimeofday(). This update also provides more space for gigabit counters, while still permitting users to accept arguments and adjust the number of seconds between counters for better usability.
