The System Monitor Screenlet is a useful software tool for your GNOME desktop. It helps monitor system resources such as CPU and memory usage in real-time. This tool is designed to optimize the desktop's performance and productivity.
In regards to Screenlets, it includes both a widget engine and a set of independently-developed widget applications. The engine primarily runs on X11-based compositing window managers, notably Compiz (Linux). Up until 0.0.14, screenlets were scripted exclusively in Python and drawn in SVG. However, afterward, support was added for web widgets, which are written in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, much like widgets for Apple Inc.'s Dashboard.
