IOSEMU is a high-performing Cisco 7200 emulator that utilizes JIT technology. It provides an efficient solution for simulating Cisco IOS and network functionality.
What sets IOSEMU apart is its impressive compatibility with a vast array of Cisco IOS releases designed for the 7200 platform, including the latest 12.2S and 12.4. The emulator is capable of emulating a MIPS64 CPU processor, as well as DRAM and Packet SRAM memory, Non-Volatile Memory (NVRAM), NMC93C46 Serial EEPROM and basic support for Serial interfaces (PA-8T) and Ethernet IOCard based on DEC21140 (Tulip) chip. The emulator also offers support for Dallas DS1620 Temperature Sensors and Voltage Sensors, which enable the Environmental Monitor to function seamlessly.
While the instruction set is not completely emulated at present (FPU support is lacking, TLB support is not finished and some other minor aspects require completion), it is adequate for IOS.
IOSEMU's I/O and Midplane FPGA are C7200 platform specific, and the emulator also has a basic Galileo GT64010 PCI controller, DEC 21050 PCI bridges, and more.
In order to achieve optimal speed, IOSEMU uses a JIT compiler that performs exceptionally well on both x86 CPU (such as Pentium) and x86_64 CPU (AMD64/Intel EM64T). Overall, IOSEMU proves to be a well-designed emulator that enthusiasts can rely on for their Cisco 7200 emulation needs.
