Ipmkchains manipulates firewall chains and is a tool for network security.
Installation of this tool requires that you login as root and run "make install". Once you're up and running, you'll need to be familiar with the Python source format of the rule files. Thankfully, the distribution includes some sample rules to help you get started.
In terms of requirements, you'll need Python 1.5 or later, GNU diff, and a Linux 2.2.x kernel with ipchains. In the latest release of ipmkchains, version ipmkchains_constants.py (mask2bits), you'll find that the table of netmask to bit count translations has been moved into the constants.
Overall, if you're comfortable with Python and looking for a way to manipulate your firewall chains quickly and easily, ipmkchains is definitely worth checking out.
