ipsvd is a software suite that comprises of various daemons designed for Internet protocol services for both TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols.
What makes these daemons unique is their ability to follow pre-defined instructions for handling incoming connections. As a result, these daemons can differentiate clients based on their IP address, hostname, run different programs, set a different environment, deny a connection, or set a per host concurrency limit.
In addition, Linux users can enjoy the added benefit of optional network connection encryption using SSL3. ipsvd daemons are perfect for running services traditionally overseen by inetd or tcpserver.
Typically, a supervisor process such as runsv from the runit package or daemontools' supervise controls the operation of these daemons.
One noteworthy feature of this release is the improved SSL programs that build against the MatrixSSL library version 1.8.3.
