Jaaa is a precise audio signal generator and spectrum analyser software that enables accurate measurements of audio signals.
Jaaa has two sets of buttons that control the display view: Frequency and Amplitude. These buttons, along with the 'Bandw', 'Peak', or 'Noise' discussed below, are designed with an orange LED light that signals the currently selected parameter. The selected parameter can be modified in three ways, including typing a new value into the text widget, using the buttons to increment or decrement the value, or using mouse gestures.
Regarding the Frequency button, the 'Min' and 'Max' buttons set the minimum and maximum displayed frequencies. The cent is the frequency at the center of the x-axis, and the span is the difference between 'Max' and 'Min'. When either of these parameters is selected, a horizontal Drag Left will change the 'Min' value, while a horizontal Drag Right will change the 'Max.' Additionally, a horizontal Drag Left on the cent will change its value, while a Drag Right will change the span. Alternatively, 'Cent' can be set by clicking on the frequency axis scale.
When it comes to the Amplitude button, the 'Max' button sets the maximum value on the y-axis, while the 'Range' button controls the range of the y-axis. If either of these parameters is selected, a vertical Drag Left will change the 'Max' value, and a vertical Drag Right will change the 'Range.' In this case, a Drag Left will scroll the display, while a Drag Right will zoom in or out.
Jaaa's analyzer is based on a windowed FFT, where windowing is performed by convolution after the FFT and combined with interpolation. The windowing and interpolation ensure that displayed peaks are accurate to 0.25 dB, even if the peak falls between the FFT bins. Additionally, markers can be used for more precise measurements.
Overall, Jaaa is a highly capable tool for accurate audio signal generation and spectrum analysis. Its user-friendly interface and versatile options make it a great addition to any audio professional's toolkit.
