JackMiniMix is a user-friendly mixer software that works alongside Jack Audio Connection Kit. It features an OSC-based control interface for easy accessibility.
One of the best things about JackMiniMix is that it's completely free software that is released under the GPL licence. This means you can use it and modify it to your heart's content without worrying about breaking any laws.
With its OSC interface, JackMiniMix is capable of handling channels numbers that range from 1 to the total number of channels that you configure. The software also offers floating point decibels that range from -90 to 90 dB, with -90 dB being treated as infinite.
Using the OSC interface, you can send messages to JackMiniMix to perform a variety of tasks. For instance, you can use "/mixer/get_channel_count" to retrieve the number of channels. Replies will be sent back with "/mixer/channel_count (i)." If you want to set the gain of a particular channel, you can use "/mixer/channel/set_gain (if)." Replies will be sent with "/mixer/channel/gain (if)." Similarly, you can set a channel label using "/mixer/channel/set_label (is)" and get the label of a channel using "/mixer/channel/get_label (i)."
Finally, if you want to check whether JackMiniMix is still there, you can send a ping using "/ping." Replies will be sent back with "/pong." And in case you were wondering, replies are sent back to the port/socket that they were sent from.
Before you start using JackMiniMix, make sure you have the Jack Audio Connection Kit and liblo - Lightweight OSC implementation. With the latest release, JackMiniMix comes with a fix for the -n client name option, which was not working.
