Jakarta Project provides a broad range of Java solutions that are open source.
Tomcat 5.5.12 is one of the stable releases voted after a testing period following the alpha distribution. This version has undergone no code changes, so it is not necessary to download it again if you already have 5.5.12-alpha. The Tomcat team is moving to the Subversion (SVN) repository as a part of the ASF's overall initiative to leverage technology for better collaboration. Access instructions for the SVN repository are available on the Apache's repositories page.
The release of Tomcat 5.5.12 marks the end of using the CVS repository at Apache. The move is expected to be complete within the next week. It is also likely the last release to use the Jakarta pages. As part of Tomcat's move to a top-level project (TLP) at Apache, content migration will take place on the under-construction domain. There, the site will have its own download pages and related information. Redirection will be put in place, but reminders to update bookmarks and minor branding changes are also necessary.
The distribution names for Apache Tomcat has changed from jakarta-tomcat-* to apache-tomcat-*. The tomcat team is grateful for the Jakarta project's support over the years and is committed to continue collaborating on projects and issues of common interest.
