Jamplayer is a versatile software that functions as an audio player, bittorrent client and irate client all in one. It provides seamless playback of your music files, allows you to download and share torrent files, and also helps you manage any potential disputes with service providers.
To ensure maximum flexibility, Jamplayer is based on a client/server architecture. While using Jamplayer as a standalone server will enable it to perform its various functions, its lack of control can be rather limiting. Fortunately, the developers have created a graphical client, called pyjama, that grants users full control over Jamplayer. This remote control feature is one of the main reasons for its unique architecture.
Jamplayer offers several noteworthy features, including support for both OGG Vorbis and MP3 files (however, note that MP3 files are currently unavailable on Windows). Its playlist management is also well-designed, with ease of use being a top priority. Additionally, users can download albums on Jamendo from JamSelector, which recommends new albums based on the user's preferences.
Among its other features, Jamplayer allows users to rate songs, adjust preferences, and chat with other Jamendo members. However, it's worth noting that some of these features may require additional software, such as libsvga1, libsdl-mixer1.2, libsdl-net1.2, libsqlite3-0, and libaudio2.
In the latest release of Jamplayer, a bug that prevented the app from loading torrents at startup has been fixed. Overall, I found Jamplayer to be an excellent multimedia client that prioritizes flexibility and ease-of-use. Highly recommended!
