Jarl is a client software built using the Perl/Tk language, designed for various applications.
Included in this package are the necessary perlo modules to ensure a smooth installation. To get started, simply run the installation program called "install" with the command "./install". This program will check for currently installed modules and compare them to the required modules.
If modules need upgrading or installing, the program will prompt you for an installation location. For those with root access or global Perl module write access, you have the option to install to the global Perl modules. If not, any other location can be chosen such as ~/perllib. A side note: setting PERLLIB variable to a location with installed modules will offer that to you as a choice during installation.
Once the installation location has been identified, the program will check for required files. If a file is missing, the program uses wget to fetch the file and continue the installation process. The Tk package installation may take some time depending on machine speed. After the necessary files have been installed, you will be prompted for the location to install Jarl and its accompanying files.
Upon completion of the installation process, you can begin using Jarl in its full capacity. The latest release includes bug fixes related to the EntryPullDown module and agent_tk.pl, making it easier to join groupchats.
