Java Dynamic DNS is a client software that allows running a web server on a home computer, enabling users to map their computer's IP to a custom domain name for remote access.
This client has been tested on various platforms such as Mac OS X, Windows 32, and Linux, but it can also run on any other java-enabled platform. Additionally, the Java Dynamic DNS Client has been integrated with the Host Management Extension Project. For more detailed information or source code, check out the project page.
One of the best things about this software is its ease of configuration. You have the option of editing XML configuration files, but the client automatically loads all settings and current statuses from XML files whenever the system restarts. It also comes with mail notification, automatic IP identification from Router, Web Service, or File, automatic retries, and accessibility monitoring.
Java Dynamic DNS Client supports unlimited zones, runs as a servlet, a Windows service/Linux demon or as a console application. It also works practically with all web-enabled routers and uses different methods like UpnP, SNMP, HTTP or an external website to determine the current IP.
This software is also JMX enabled, meaning it can be accessed remotely through the JMX browser, or through a JMX-enabled monitoring application. Finally, it also comes with TCP Redirector, allowing you to redirect TCP/IP streams from a given port to a different port and/or different host. Overall, Java Dynamic DNS is a powerful and versatile solution for anyone in need of a Dynamic DNS Client.
