JayOS is a Linux-based live CD operating system that is built on the Linux From Scratch platform. It offers a fully functional system accessible through a single and portable CD.
The software integrates in-RAM filesystem encryption with plausible deniability. This ensures that the system is difficult to alter, and since all filesystems are either static or encrypted, it is resistant to physical attacks. This high degree of data integrity ensures that your information is always secure.
JayOS runs well on low-end x86 hardware, and only requires 128MB RAM and a bootable CD drive to get started. It also has some PowerPC support. Standard desktop software is included, and the system is based on Linux From Scratch.
The latest release of JayOS comes with new features that include support for the Sony VAIO VGN-UX280P, updated source codes to the latest Linux From Scratch and BLFS releases, and an upgrade to Xorg 7.2.
In addition, several extraneous programs have been removed, and many others upgraded. The build process has also been completely overhauled. Later releases will include a generic kernel for non-VAIO x86 hardware, and Intel-based Macs are now supported (tested on Mac Mini), though X11 video needs additional configuration.
Overall, JayOS is an excellent software solution that guarantees the safety and security of your data. It is easy to use, requires minimal hardware, and comes with a host of features that make it ideal for users who require a more secure mobile environment.
