Jazz Utils are a set of plugins for FileMaker that provide various functions to improve its functionality. These plugins include encryption, hash calculation, and more, allowing FileMaker to handle tasks ranging from data validation to file management with more ease and efficiency.
The Jazz Utils plugin includes various functions, such as clipboard functions, HTML formatting (tagging), mouse location (x, y), cross-platform character conversion, ascii values, and FileMaker script debugging tools. It also has mini-icons below to indicate which functions are implemented for each platform. However, some functions are Macintosh-only, such as clipboard functions and HTML formatting functions. On the other hand, the Windows-only function allows for switching between applications.
While the functions are not comprehensive, they have helped me out of binds and will hopefully do the same for others. You can download the documentation for more details on these functions. Also, the plugin has been updated for Mac OS X and is compatible with all versions of FileMaker up to and including version 7.0, with a few exceptions.
The Jazz-Debug STE requires Mac OS System 7.1 or later and AppleEvents, and Jazz-Debug STE Slow requires AppleScript. Jazz-Clip2HTML does not work in FileMaker Pro 7 due to the modified clipboard format used in this version. However, this functionality has been replaced and improved by the Jazz HTML and Jazz Styled Text shareware plugins.
If you are a FileMaker Pro 7 user on Mac OS X, please note that all Macintosh plugins must end with the extension ".fmplugin." It is important to rename all existing plugins before using them with FileMaker Pro 7. Alternatively, you may download a fresh copy of the plugin with a proper name and hidden extension. In conclusion, the Jazz Utils plugin is a great asset for anyone looking to perform tasks quickly and efficiently.
