JEvent offers tools for leveraging XMPP and XMPP Publish-Subscribe, comprising documents and implementations, for various purposes.
The development of JEvent specifications and implementations is ongoing, with the software currently deployed at Stockholm University to solve real-world problems. JEvent is presented with the intention of providing a novel solution that will be of immense value to users in various sectors.
As of now, JEvent is only available as a set of client-side libraries and components. The message hub used for JEvent is a standard XMPP server with support for JEP-0060. If you're looking for an easy server to get started with, j-eai is an excellent option. It's an extension of ejabberd that adds more support for Publish-Subscribe. It's worth noting that JEvent can coexist with the client-side components and integration libraries provided with j-eai, which offer an alternative approach to EDA using PubSub.
There are currently two versions available for JEvent implementations: a perl-implementation based on Net::XMPP and a j2ee-implementation tightly integrated with the JBoss AS. Regardless of which version you choose, JEvent is easy to use and provides excellent functionality for Event Driven Architecture.
