A mass file downloader that is free and open source for users to access and download files easily.
Unlike other downloaders, jGetFile is specifically designed for mass downloading non-HTML files from the web. Many web crawlers and web site downloads are already available, but not all of them are created equal. This is where jGetFile shines.
With jGetFile, you can handle extraneous href configurations that other file crawlers might struggle with. While it doesn't handle all possible cases, future releases are expected to support more cases.
One of the standout features of jGetFile is its highly configurable means to filter link acceptance. Users can use the -i or -e options to specify which links to traverse or exclude based on specified addresses. For power users, the -als option allows specification of a BeanShell script to reject links based on arbitrarily complex rules. You could, for example, only accept links at level 1 that start with www.blah.com, then exclude links at level 2 that start with www.foo.com, and finally exclude links at level 2 that contain the word "cat".
Note, though, that the depth variable is not yet available for custom scripts, but it is slated to be included in the next release.
jGetFile is not intended to replace wget, although its initial features were based on wget. This program has a single goal: to efficiently download files from the web. Since there is no GUI and one is not planned for the future, this simplicity makes it perfect for users who want a straightforward solution.
