JXMLPad is a Java tool that uses pure Swing components to edit XML and XHTML documents.
Additionally, JXMLPad offers a customizable toolbar and action, real-time tree/text synchronization, auto-tag closing, and robust drag and drop features. It has a customizable property file, Unicode, and a fantastic template for easy creation which makes it perfect for JSP/XML editing, applet, and standalone usage.
The software has undergone an update that adds several new features and fixes bugs. The new version of JXMLPad now features errors on the fly which are displayed in the tree nodes, tooltips in the tree with error info or XPath location. It also comes with a custom error panel, better performance for node location, and a message display while formatting a wrong document. The default element view is disabled for parsing errors, and dragging and dropping of tree nodes while scrolling is now possible.
The bugs that were fixed include no error status notification and inaccurate text selection from the tree. The software also went through several API changes, with some method names renamed, and others removed. The software currently requires JDK 1.4.
In summary, JXMLPad provides a fantastic editing experience for XML/XHTML documents. It is fast, efficient, and customizable, making it perfect for developers and software users who want a reliable XML editing tool.
