Arch Linux-based distribution running on Linux.
Kahel OS distinguishes itself not only as an operating system and a technology product on a Linux and open source platform, but also as an embodiment of the IT values and philosophy held by its team. It is a collaborative effort of Filipino spirit that celebrates the competence of the global IT community.
As an open source software, KahelOS remains free of charge with an active community to support it. The rolling-release model is an update system that synchronizes packages with the current versions to be used immediately without waiting for a new release of the OS. While other Linux distributions are locked in the previous versions supported by their package managers, Kahel OS provides the most up-to-date upstream versions of Linux applications, enabling users to use the latest versions without undue wait.
Despite concerns about the potential instability of the synchronization model, Kahel OS pulls from three repository types: "core," "community," and "testing," with new applications undergoing extensive testing on the "testing" repository first before being moved to "community" and "core." Kahel OS uses only the "core" and "community" versions.
Some of Kahel OS's most notable features include its genuine upstream source, its use of the recently released Linux Kernel 2.6.30, all default and suggested applications for Gnome, support for latest NILFS2, BTRFS by default, utilization of Pacman and Package Kit, source code installation-capability, and i686 and x86-64 optimized applications.
Ultimately, Kahel OS is a compelling product and a free gift to all, inspired by the same dedication and passion of its team.
