KANOTIX 64 is a 64-bit Linux live CD that runs on Knoppix technology and uses Debian/sid.
Featuring the kernel forcedeth for nForce NIC, device mapper, and other patches, KANOTIX 64 is easy and enjoyable to use. However, some tools may request a root password as none is set - simply use "sudo passwd" or "su" in konsole to set a password. Remember, be cautious when executing something with root permissions, and always know what you are doing.
For web surfing over LAN, no root access is required, making KANOTIX 64 accessible and user-friendly. However, take caution when attempting to write to NTFS partitions using the standard NTFS driver included with the kernel, as its support for writing is lacking and could destroy the partition and the data in it. Instead, opt for the new Captive NTFS driver which does a better job at writing to NTFS.
For FAT partitions, write-access can be enabled with the context menu (right mouse button). And if you need to modify Linux partitions, use the root mode in konsole if needed. Though some links may not work in the menu due to the newness of packages from Debian/sid, updated releases are always available.
Overall, KANOTIX 64 offers an impressive Linux live CD experience that is sure to meet your needs, with powerful features and user-friendly functionality.
