Kapt-get is a GUI front-end designed for RPM-based systems to make it easier to use the command-line tool apt-get.
One of the key features of kapt-get is that it allows for updating the repository database and performing other operations in the same command. For example, entering "kapt-get --update --dist-upgrade" will initiate both "apt-get update" and "apt-get dist-upgrade," and display the graphical user interface for the entire operation. By doing so, kapt-get simplifies the update process for users.
To run kapt-get, a PerlQt version 3.009b2 or higher is required, while apt-rpm is also necessary. The app will not function with apt for dpkg, but patches for adding support can be accepted. The program will undergo a complete rewrite for version 0.4.0, which may further facilitate support.
To install, users only need to type "make" and "make install" as root, as there is no need to run a configure script. However, kapt-get is currently seeking translators to help bring the software to non-English speaking users. If you are willing to translate, contact the developers to contribute.
