KCheckers is a software program that allows users to play the traditional board game on a computer, using the Qt graphical user interface.
There are many features available in this game that make it stand out from other similar games. For instance, it is built on pure Qt, making it versatile and dynamic. The game comes with a built-in checkers engine, which you can use whenever you need it.
You can play the game under English and Russian rules. Plus, there are various levels of skills that you can try, including Beginner, Novice, Average, Good, Expert, and Master. You can also choose your preferred board theme from green, marble, and wooden options.
The game supports Portable Draughts Notation database format and features PDN preview widget. You can save, load, and restart the game at any time. There is an option for auto-change of men's color and undoing the last move.
KCheckers also comes with auto-saving of settings and optional numeration of the board. You can view game information on the game information box and access details on the game's rules through its on-line description.
The game features threads support and internationalization in German and Russian languages. It also has excellent network capabilities.
The rules of play are straightforward. You begin the game with 12 checkers (men). The men move forward only and capture by jumping forward (English rules) or jumping backward and forward (Russian rules). Once a man reaches the far side of the board, it becomes a king. Kings move forward or backward one square (English rules) or any number of squares (Russian rules). Kings also capture by jumping forward or backward, and a capture is mandatory whenever it is possible.
The latest release features minor bug fixes and the removal of unused code. Overall, KCheckers is an excellent game to play and will provide hours of fun for players of all skill levels.
