KDE Kontact is a PIM suite designed for personal information management.

What’s more, this suite also extends its components with groupware server support, providing workgroups with shared email folders, group task lists, central address books and calendar sharing.

The summary component: Specifically made for KDE Kontact, this component provides an overview of all other components and a selection of information gathered from the internet, such as weather info and headlines.
The mail component: This component is provided by KMail, the KDE mail client, which is an easy-to-use client that comes with all the necessary features.
The calendar component: This component uses KOrganizer, a mature KDE application as the calendar tool. This feature-rich program is simple to use and intuitive, making it an excellent personal organizer. With the addition of groupware functionality, it enhances communication within workgroups.
The contacts component: This component manages your contacts and is provided by KAddressbook, a powerful program that is deeply rooted into KDE.
The notes component: This serves as your infinite block of digital sticky notes. You can stick them on your desktop and they remain visible even after closing KDE Kontact.
The news component: This full-featured news reader is provided by KNode, KDE's default news reader.
The sync component: KitchenSync, KDE's universal syncing application provides a framework for syncing with all kinds of devices. It is being implemented currently but is not considered to be stable. In the meantime, there are two excellent applications that seamlessly integrate with KDE Kontact namely KPilot for syncing with Palm compatible devices and Kandy for syncing with several mobile phone types.
