Kdenlive Builder Wizard is a Kommander script designed to facilitate the acquisition of the SVN version of kdenlive for developers.
That's where the Kdenlive Builder Wizard comes in. This handy Kommander script takes care of many of the complexities involved in building from the development versions. All you have to do is answer a few simple questions, click a few buttons, and press "Go". The wizard then retrieves or updates your sources, configures everything, compiles it, and installs it.
Of course, if anything goes wrong, you have the option to review a log of the commands run, so you can try and fix the issue before restarting the wizard. I found this feature particularly helpful, as missing libraries are often the cause of problems.
The Kdenlive Builder Wizard has only been tested on Kubuntu 7.10, using Kommander 1.2.2. Overall, I was impressed with this tool and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to build Kdenlive from the development versions. If you encounter any bugs or issues, the creator's email is included in the about box, so be sure to send through any feedback. On the other hand, if everything goes well, it's always nice to share your success stories!
