Kio-Sword is a software that grants access to Bibles, commentaries and other texts directly from the Konqueror Web browser.
Kio-Sword expands this functionality by adding in the sword:/ protocol for simple access to Sword modules. By typing the sword:/ command in Konqueror's location bar, users can explore an extensive list of modules as a web page. For rapid access, users can type sword:/KJV/John 3:16 for King James' version of John 3:16.
Aside from access, Kio-Sword also boasts features such as hyperlinked cross-references, hyperlinked Strongs numbers, and morphological tags (in modules that include them). Basic search functionalities and page customization using different options and your own CSS file are also readily available.
Kio-Sword's requirements include KDE 3, Sword 1.5.7, the header files for both, and installed Sword modules as they're what make kio-sword functional. Notably, the recent release fixes various bugs, particularly non-ASCII characters related, and now has both Debian Sarge and Ubuntu Dapper packages available.
Overall, Kio-Sword is an excellent protocol addition for easy and swift Sword module access, and it's worth giving a try for an enhanced KDE experience.
