Kitty software is a simple DTV and client for Linux operating system. It allows users to watch television programs on their computer with ease.
Kitty was built on Slackware, so if you're using a different distribution and your KDE headers are located elsewhere, ensure you run "configure" with the "--prefix=/usr/kde/3.4" parameter. Alternatively, you can locate your headers with "$ kde-config --prefix /opt/kde" and use that prefix parameter instead. BitTorrent is also embedded within Kitty, but you will need the original BitTorrent package to make use of its front-end for downloading video content. Identify the binary that is the pure textual client (it should be "bittorrent-console" or "btdownloadheadless.py") and input the name (along with its full path) into the "Bittorrent" section of Kitty's preferences.
Among the features of the latest release of Kitty, directories for videos have been changed to "my-media", while lots more bugfixes have been implemented. A nasty bug that enabled actions after feed selection has also been fixed, and a stop button has been added to the interface. Plus, the playing icon is now visible in the KDE interface, and extensions are displayed near the thumbnails/icons of videos and audio. In addition, the icons for video and audio have been changed, and the bittorrent front-end has been improved for multilingual clients.
In conclusion, Kitty provides an excellent Linux DTV client and DTV service for Linux users who want a stable, fast, and user-friendly solution for watching Internet TV.
