KLACK is a minimalist game featuring balls that enables users to test their reflexes and coordination abilities.
The spheres are the center of the game and you can accelerate yours by pressing your key. The player keys are Tab, Space, Keypad-Plus, and Mouse. Whenever a sphere collides with another, points will either be awarded or removed from your score. Keep an eye on the pointer in the lower right corner of the window – it shows the direction of the actual acceleration. The lower left shows all player scores while the timer below the scoreboard counts down the seconds left until the game ends.
Between the timer and the direction pointer is a small diagram that explains the rules for awarding points. A green arrow means that a point is awarded, a red arrow means a point is removed, and a black arrow indicates that the points are carried over. Everyone starts with zero points and nobody can get less than zero points.
KLACK has two game modes: Shuffle and Cascade. In Shuffle, you control the green sphere and try to let the yellow sphere hit the blue sphere while avoiding the red sphere. In Cascade, it's a four-player game where you bump into your right neighbor, but avoid getting hit by the left. The leftmost player has to fear the rightmost.
There are some limitations to KLACK, including the fact that spheres can bump into or even through each other. However, the developer has already outlined an improved algorithm that does vector clipping. Additionally, after a Cascade game, only player 1's score is shown, and the manpage is incomplete and needs translation.
Overall, KLACK is a fun and addicting game that will provide you with hours of entertainment. Give it a try and see how high you can score!
