Kontrol-Alt-Delete is a KDE 2.2 screensaver that mimics Windows NT.
Upon initial installation, KCAD looks very KDE-ish, but with just a few simple configuration tweaks, you can make it look and feel like Windows NT - fooling nearly all BOFH-types out there. You can easily install the software by following these steps:
- Extract the kcad-1.00.tgz file using the ‘tar xzfv’ command
- Change directories to ‘kcad-1.00’
- Run ‘./configure’ (if you are using FreeBSD, be sure to include the ‘--prefix=/usr/local --with-qt-includes=/usr/X11R6/include/qt2’ parameter)
- Run ‘make’ (or ‘gmake’ if using FreeBSD)
- Become root
- Finally, run ‘[g]make install’ to complete the installation process.
Once you have installed KCAD, you can make it look like Windows NT by creating a configuration file for the screensaver. This is easily accomplished by putting the following text in a file located here: $HOME/.kde/share/config/kcad.kss
[Settings]
NtLike=1
That's it! With these simple steps, you can quickly and easily make KCAD look and feel like Windows NT - fooling your boss into thinking they are looking at their favorite operating system. KCAD is a fantastic screensaver option for anyone looking to navigate the current landscape of mixed OS environments.
