KPOPS Converter is a tool that facilitates the transfer of PSX games to PSP. With this software, users can easily convert their games and enjoy them on their PSP.
The tool is based on Pops Converter by aeolusc & moon, KDVDAuthorWizard and the PSX2PSP script. With the KPOPS Converter, you can easily create an image of your PSX discs and the program comes with a progress bar to keep you updated on the status.
One of the best features is the program's ability to automatically detect the GameCode from the cd-image and you can modify it if you don't like it. The program also allows you to enter a TitleGame for Game and Saves. Additionally, you have the option to select personal images for the game, icon, and screen's background (highly recommended).
When you open a cd-image, the program loads any existing pictures automatically. What's more, the program now includes a graphical tool for generating an image with title and gamecode data automatically with personal fonts, colors, and images. This comes with an included preview for all pictures.
The program also has an impressive PDF/PS to DOCUMENT.DAT function that lets you create a manual for the PSX game from a pdf file or directory that contains the images for the manual. The images can be in any ImageMagick's format and in any resolution or size, and the program adjusts them to fit the PSP.
You can configure the compression of PBP from program and, when you are ready, the program saves the game in one folder with the gamecode name for easy management.
Before running the program, it will ask you for the required files and configurations. The configuration file is stored in your $HOME directory with the name < .psx2psprc2 >, so you can easily make changes to your configuration by deleting the file and running the program normally.
The KPOPS Converter project requires a few tools and libraries, including Kommander-executor, kdialog (KDE), ImageMagick (convert), PdfToolKit (pdftoppm), cdrdao, popstation (source code included and installed automatically), and docmaker (source code included and installed automatically). You will also need PSP-PSX Hot Shots Golf 2 provided by Sony, which must be renamed EBOOT.PBP to BASE.PBP and KEYS.BIN files.
To install the program, you can use the Installer.kdmr for a correct installation. The Installer makes executables, copies necessary files in a correct place, and creates a Desktop file in your media menu. If you prefer, you can execute the program directly.
Overall, I found the KPOPS Converter project to be a reliable and feature-packed tool for anyone looking to transfer their PSX games to their PSP. The most recent release fixed a bug and now Make DOCUMENT.DAT function only requires PSX game code. Highly recommended for PSP gamers!
