Kuartet Desktop is a KDE-based visually attractive and user-friendly desktop project. Its main focus is to provide an easy-to-use interface to the users.
The main feature of Kuartet Desktop is the Kuartet Manager, which provides quick access to documents, applications, bookmarks, and more. To access it, you need to meet these requirements: KDE 3.5.1, SuperKaramba 0.35, Python 2.4, and PyQT.
To install the Kuartet Desktop project, follow the below-mentioned steps:
1. Download and extract kuartet-0.4.0.tar.gz
2. Open a terminal and change to the extracted directory
3. Copy kuartetlib/ to /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/
4. Make directories like /usr/share/kuartet or /usr/local/share/kuartet
5. Copy the following directories into the directory you just created: settings/, themes/, images/, configdialogs/, apps/, and plugins/, Note: apps/ can be located anywhere.
To configure Kuartet Desktop, right-click on any Kuartet applet and click Configure or simply run the scripts manually. They reside in configdialogs/. Config files are saved to ~/.kuartet/settings/.
The latest version of Kuartet Desktop brings several improvements, including the trash plugin that now supports drag-n-drop, the DesktopBar menu has been changed to display KMenu, which allows for access to applications if the Manager is not running. Finally, a few adjustments have been made in the kuartetlib classes, which will surely enhance user experience.
