Java-based skill game featuring a rich set of 2D-3D features.
As you maneuver your aircraft, you must be aware of your height and its relation to the land height below you. Crashing into the land results in death. To help you keep track of your height, each player has a colored height indicator and a status area that displays the precise height relation.
Shields are available to protect you from shots, but they can be destroyed by your opponent. Once your shield is gone, you are vulnerable and will die if your opponent hits you. If two players crash into each other, they both die and explode.
The game is displayed in 2D and allows you to target your opponent easily. The primary weapon uses automated targeting in the 3rd dimension, while the secondary weapon is a target follower that can hit you if you are in the way. Shots that miss or hit the land leave marks that will persist throughout the game.
The landscape is randomly generated for each game and is displayed as a perfectly colored relief map. To aid in navigation, a fine minimap is provided that shows the location of the players and the entire landscape. Each player has their own window that displays their portion of the map.
Playing LandFight requires precise control over your aircraft and weapons, which is facilitated by a traditional keyboard. Help is available at any time during the game by pressing F1.
Overall, LandFight is a fun and engaging game that provides hours of entertainment.
