Ldap2dns quickly generates DNS records from an LDAP database with ease.
Once you've installed ldap2dns, the administrator only needs to access the LDAP database. You can add access control for each zone, create a special GUI, or use one of the existing LDAP GUIs to easily add all other kinds of zone and resource record information without interfering with the DNS server.
ldap2dns is designed to write an ASCII data file used by tinydns (from the djbdns package), or a zonename.db-file as used by named. The software requires OpenLDAP (LDAPv3 branch).
In the latest release, scripts/data2ldif.pl has been updated to properly handle reverse domains. Parser bugs in the same script have been fixed, and the option -M has been added. The default record limit has been changed to LDAP_NO_LIMIT, and the LDAP search scope when calculating the checksum has been tightened. A bug in reading the LDAP bind password from the environment has also been fixed.
Users appreciate how ldap2dns saves them time and eliminates tedious file editing. It's easy to use and requires minimal maintenance. Give it a try and see how much easier it can make your DNS record management!
