Lestat software offers a network scanning monitoring system for detecting connection and port activities.
To use Lestat, you need to install certain prerequisites such as libnet-pcap-perl, libdbi-perl, and php4 gd and mysql modules. Once installed, there are two ways to use the software. You can edit the configuration file to include the IP address and interface you want to monitor, or you can use the command line arguments.
The latest release of Lestat comes with several new features and fixes. The bugs that caused ports not to appear in graphs and the broken '--pass' handler have been fixed. The installation text has been updated, and man pages have been added for Lestat and lestat.conf. A new 'most-scanned' graph has been added to the view script, and a global scan page has been added.
Furthermore, a template layout system, Tara has been created, and an attacker detail page has been added. Also, the software now includes install and uninstall targets in the Makefile. Lestat is a useful tool for monitoring port scans and identifying trends.
