Lexi is a free, platform-independent word processor built on Java 2 platform. Though in ALPHA, it offers basic functionality for users to test out.
As a word processor, Lexi can create, edit and save documents of various formats such as .doc, .docx and .odt. It has a simple and easy-to-use interface, complete with standard formatting tools such as text alignment, bold, italic, and underline.
One of the standout features of Lexi is its ability to support multiple languages, making it an ideal tool for bilingual or multilingual users. It also has a built-in spell checker, saving time and effort in proofreading.
Lexi is still in development, so some features may still need refining. However, it has great potential as a platform-independent word processor and is worth keeping an eye on. Plus, since it is free and open source, there is no harm in giving it a try.
