Libgnomeui is the graphical user interface (GUI) component of the former Gnome-libs. This software provides various libraries and tools to enhance the user interface and interaction with the Gnome desktop environment.
Firstly, navigate to the directory containing the package's source code and run the `./configure` command to configure the package to fit your system. This process may take a while, but during that time, you'll receive various messages indicating the features being verified. In case you're using `csh` on an outdated version of System V, you may have to run `sh ./configure` instead to prevent `csh` from trying to execute `configure` itself.
Once the package is configured to your system, run the `make` command to compile the package. If the package has self-tests, you can run them using the `make check` command. After successful compilation, you can install the programs together with data files and documentation by executing the `make install` command.
If you'd like to remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory, you can do so by running the `make clean` command. To remove the files created during the configuration process, enabling you to compile the package for a different type of computer, use the `make distclean` command. Although there's a `make maintainer-clean` command that developers use, it's recommended only for developers. If you use it, you may need to install various other programs to regenerate original files that were in the distribution.
