Light-monitor is a software that uses X and Xft technologies to create a transparent panel.
One of the standout features of light-monitor is its ability to manage the volume and scaling_governor. Users can easily change the current volume by clicking on it or using the mouse-wheel. The scaling_governor is represented by color, with blue indicating powersave, blue and green indicating ondemand, and blue, green, and red indicating performance. Users can change to the next scaling_governor by simply clicking on the processor.
Other information displayed by light-monitor includes the current load on the system and processor temperature, time, date, network bandwidth, and power supply status for laptops. For those with a laptop, there is also a battery percentage display and remaining time estimation if the AC adapter is unplugged.
Light-calendar, the second program included in this package, is a simple and transparent calendar that is distributed under the GPLv2 license. It is incredibly lightweight, coming in at only 12Kb. Users can easily navigate through months by clicking on the right or left arrow. The current month can be accessed by clicking on the "o" between the two arrows, and the calendar can be moved by dragging it outside the arrow buttons.
Overall, light-monitor and light-calendar are both excellent programs that offer users a highly efficient and lightweight way to monitor their system and keep track of important dates. A stalling bug that was caused by a change in X.Org internals has been fixed in the latest release of the software.
