CronoX 3 is a synthesizer software that utilizes samples both as oscillators and waveforms. It is compatible as an AudioUnit or VST plugin.
One of CronoX 3's key features is its versatile architecture, which includes four generators and two filters. It also features an analogue-modeled oscillator generator, time-sampler with independent real-time modulation, time-stretching, and pitch-shifting, and a wavetable generator that offers wavetable operation using any sample.
But that's not all. CronoX 3 also boasts a loop sampler generator capable of loading up to 64 samples, an easy-edit panel for preset browsing, and quick access to main synthesis parameters. Its powerful modulation matrix includes 10 routings, 30 modulation sources, and 56 destinations. And the synthesizer also includes recognition for Velocity, Aftertouch, Pitchbend, Modwheel, and more, with a handy MIDI Learn function for easy controller assignment.
CronoX 3's effects capabilities are also impressive, with six simultaneously available multi-effect units. And whether you're making mono or polyphonic music, you'll appreciate its adjustable portamento/glide and 32-voice polyphony.
To use CronoX 3, you'll need AudioUnit instruments or VST 2.0 capable host software, a Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G3, G4, G5 or Intel Core processor at 1 GHz, QuickTime 6.4 or later, 512 MB of RAM, and 300 MB of available disk space. And while the demo version does emit a noise about once a minute, the full version does not.
Overall, CronoX 3 is a powerful and versatile synthesizer with a lot to offer. If you're in the market for a new synth, it's definitely worth a look.
