LinuxRogue is a refined variant of the Rogue adaptation designed for Linux operating system.
After discovering Nethack and wanting to try its progenitor Rogue, the creator of this review got involved with LinuxRogue. The sources were found to be very outdated and requiring many changes, so they decided to start this project. LinuxRogue is only maintained in the creator's free time during weekends, and they intend on simply keeping this Rogue 5.3 clone on Linux clean, updated and bug-free, without adding any new challenges or improving the difficulty.
The latest release now includes enabling LinuxRogue to run multi-user, with instructions files located in /usr/local/share/games/rogue/rogue.instr and score files in /var/games/RogueScores. Additionally, the malloc compilation problem in machdep.c has been fixed. If you're looking for a classic game of dungeon exploration with a text interface, LinuxRogue could be a solid option to try out.
