LiSa is a software tool that allows users to manipulate audio in real-time by sampling and processing live audio. It provides a comprehensive environment for live sound manipulation.
With this combination, the Mac transforms into an incredibly versatile audio sampling machine able to generate up to 128 voices under the complete program control of the user via MIDI. This makes it ideal for use in a performance environment.
The system features a stereo sample buffer, the size of which depends on the amount of memory allocated to LiSa. The user can define various zones, which have access to different portions of the sample buffer. A library of more than two thousand zones can be created, with each zone having five different functions including playing, recording and reading audio data to or from the buffer.
Since the user can access these zones through MIDI, the top layer of the system is organized into "presets." Each preset allows the user to assign zones to one or more MIDI note events. LiSa X can store up to 128 presets, each of which can load a "preset page" (sample file) into the sample buffer in various ways.
One of the key features of LiSa X is that users can record new samples at any time in the sample buffer, not just while other zones are active. Additionally, more than one recording zone can be active simultaneously, enabling users to record samples in different parts of the buffer at the same time.
LiSa X also provides real-time control over more than thirty parameters, including zone start point and length, filters, playback behavior, time stretching, and pitch shifting. Users can achieve this control through direct MIDI access or internal modulators, which can also be controlled by MIDI or other modulators.
LiSa X comes equipped with a range of new features and improvements over previous versions, including MIDI processors, MIDI snapshots, more playback filters, an enhanced user interface, and more powerful modulators.
This latest release of LiSa X also includes multichannel CoreAudio support with automatic overload detection and panic support, CoreMidi MIDI support, low latencies, enhanced MIDI processors, and extended modulators. Overall, LiSa X is an excellent audio manipulation environment that delivers high-performance results and is ideal for use in a wide range of audio production settings.
