Lisodsp is an open-source driver that manages a virtual DSP device.
However, one thing to keep in mind is that a device driver operates at a very low kernel level, which means that it could potentially be dangerous to your system. Therefore, it is important to be cautious when using it for the first time. While I have not experienced any problems while using this software, I still feel it is important to warn others about its potential risks.
At the moment, I do not have a clear understanding of the compatibility level of this driver. I have only tested it on my personal Linux box, which runs a Gentoo Linux kernel 2.4.26 on an AMD Duron processor. Despite my best efforts to make it compatible with all processors and avoid endianess issues, there is no way for me to be certain of its compatibility with other systems. This is especially true for those running different kernel patch-levels (such as the 2.2 or 2.6 kernel version), as its compatibility with those is still unknown.
