Listener is a security program that listens for sound, similar to the motion detection feature on a webcam. It serves as a surveillance tool to alert users of any unauthorized activity.
I found the software to be effective and easy to use, but was interested in expanding its capabilities by adding low-, high-, and bandfilters using plugins. After searching for solutions online, I was unable to find a straightforward example for implementing this feature. If anyone has experience in this area and would be willing to assist, it would be greatly appreciated.
One requirement for listener is the use of libsndfile. As far as updates go, the latest release includes the ability for listener to write its PID to a file when running in daemon-mode, as well as one-shot recording.
Overall, my experience with listener was positive and I recommend it to anyone in need of audio surveillance. With the added feature of custom filters, it could become an even more valuable tool in the future.
