Local Lyrics is a python script used with amaroK 1.4 that provides lyrics for music tracks.
This lyrics-plugin has the functionality to scan a selected folder for textfiles that contain lyrics. This feature is useful when you have a large number of lyrics stored on your hard drive that isn't available on lyrc.com.ar or similar services.
Installation is simple: Open the lyrics-filesystem-x.x.amarokscript.tar.bz2 with amaroK's script manager install option. Once installed, start the Local Lyrics script with amaroK's script manager. Select the directory where your lyrics are stored. The filenames of the lyrics must be "artist - title.txt" or "title.txt." Now, amaroK will search this folder for lyrics once they aren't present in its database for the current track.
Requirements for Local Lyrics are only amaroK 1.4! In the latest release of Local Lyrics, extension types are ignored when scanning for lyrics files. (.txt files are no longer a requirement!) Additionally, bugs were fixed in customMenuClicked, and Plugin.addCustomMenue and Plugin.removeCustomMenue are now available. Overload the exit-method to use the exit-handler, which captures the SIGTERM signal. Custom menues will be deleted automatically!
Overall, Local Lyrics is an excellent amaroK-script that's well worth checking out. Its straightforward installation and usage, along with the additional features in the latest release, make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a lyrics-plugin.
