LPlay is a component of Project Open Channel.
To install LPlay, you'll need to ensure you have a few key dependencies in place. First, you'll need DevIL, or Developer's Image Library. Installing libdevil-dev in Debian should be sufficient. You'll also need SDL, or Simple DirectMedia Layer. Installing libsdl1.2-all in Debian should be enough, but note that SDL is not mandatory - it can be disabled by configuring LPlay with the option --disable-sdl. Finally, you'll need FreeType 2, a software font engine, for which installing libfreetype6-dev in Debian should suffice.
To get started with LPlay, you'll first run autogen.sh. For example, you might type "sh autogen.sh" into your terminal. Next, configure LPlay to your specifications. If you want LPlay to print lots of debug output, you can add "--enable-debug" to your configuration. Finally, compile and install LPlay by running "make" and then "make install".
After following these steps, you should have LPlay installed and ready to use on your system. For more information on how to start working with LPlay, consult the lplay(1) man page as well as the LPlay website.
