Lurkftp is a software tool that enables users to track and monitor changes made to FTP servers. With this program, users can keep track of any modifications or updates made to their FTP and stay informed about any new files added or removed.
Based on feedback from users who tried to run this program on non-Linux systems, lurkftp is compatible with any POSIX-compliant system. If the program fails to compile for a system, the user can send a compiler error dump to the development team. The system developers have access to free Sun workstations (Solaris 2.5) and have information on AIX 4.2/3.2.5 machines and DEC Ultrix machines, even though they cannot compile on these systems. Although the possibility of running the program under AIX 2.1 exists, developers opt not to.
SOCKS support is available with lurkftp. However, the developers do not make use of this feature, and users will need to update it themselves. Instead of using the collection of -D's, the developers have put the defines into ftp.h and modified ftp.c, thus making it possible to modify the Makefile to include the -lsocks and the -DSOCKS, as shown therein.
Overall, lurkftp is a great monitoring tool for FTP changes, providing reliable and efficient service with ease of customization.
